Being a professional Natural Hairstylist or African Hair Culturist is a very rewarding career. Aside of making between $10 to $60 per hour, you are helping people to look their best naturally and promoting the art of braiding. This course has the latest braiding and cornrows techniques including box braids and fishbones and Celtic style braiding, safety, sanitation, the science of hair and hair textures, pattern design, and will also prepare you for the written and practical Natural Hairstylist exam if you live in a regulated state. Although the means do not exist at this point for official recognition, you will have documentation of having passed a course of study that covers the (US) NIC standards and beyond.

There is a thorough review of braiding techniques, so students who didn't take the previous casual learning course can still "walk in" and take this one. However, if you are an amateur braider with no intention of braiding outside your immediate family, the previous course African Hairstyles, Cornrows, Dreadlocks, Extensions, and Hairweaves may be better for you. This one is a great deal more academic, and is designed to enable students to either pass their state or national exam or practice as professionals.

This course is designed for the individual who wishes to become a professional Natural Hairstylist or African Hair Culturist. This course is designed with the professional in mind and though it is not a replacement for a state or national course or exam, it will prepare you for them. Those who operate in areas where natural hair and beauty are unregulated can also benefit from this course. Advanced African Hairstyles covers hair care and anatomy, various types of braiding including fishbones, box braids, twists, and track braids, ergonomics, hair types, problem solving, and just about everything a professional natural hairstylist needs.
